Jim Thon

As a member of the board of directors, Jim participates in the Finance committee, Legacy committee and the Community Engagement Committee.

 

Born and raised in Owatonna., Jim graduated from OHS in 1978. Then, he attended Gustavus Adolphus college and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics in 1982.

 

With a 40-year career at Federated Insurance, Jim spent time in Mankato MN, Madison WI, Tampa FL and Owatonna MN. He held management positions in Marketing, Claims, Underwriting, IS, HR and Field Services.  In 2022, he retired as an Executive VP.

 

He and his wife, Gabrielle have been married for 41 years and  have 3 children and 3 grandchildren.

 

Currently, they reside on a hobby farm with horses. He's also a  member of Trinity Lutheran church and a board member of Owatonna Pickleball Association.  Jim was also a member of the Medford school board for 13 years and was a board chair for a number of those years.
